We've got culture out the wazoo: tomorrow, there will be a performance at Zellerbach called Taiko drumming- an ancient Japanese art of something something. Apparently Taiko drumming was used on the re-released soundtrack for Return of the Jedi, according to this website's FAQ.

So, if you want to be cool like me and rock out to some mad Asian drumming, best get your tickets now. Show starts at 8:00pm Saturday.

If you were on Sproul today, you might have seen a couple of lines of text in black chalk- three rows of eight symbols, with the words "Norse Runes" above them. I was curious about the runes, so I copied them down and tried to find some sort of reference. Asking around the Medieval Studies department at Dwinelle was fruitless, but typing "Norse Runes" into Google sure wasn't. For those of you with a curiosity that burns like mine, here's some information about this unusual bit of "sidewalk culture".
